The new minister responsible for Bahamas Power and Light (BPL), the Hon. Jobeth Coleby-Davis spoke with ZNS News outside of the launch of BPL’s Craftsman Program about the government’s strategy for the energy sector.
Coleby-Davis said, “we have quite a lot of work cut out for us. We’re bringing some new legislation. We’re gonna bring some legislation related to the renewable energy sector and also for LNG. And so we’re looking to bring alternative fuel mix that will help us to drive the cost of the electricity down. And so it a lot of work that I’m doing now in the beginning days, in the early stages so that I make sure that I’m well equipped for when we present out strategic plan to the Bahamian people its something that we’ll be able to achieve in the timelines that we seek to achieve it so were doing short term, medium term and long term goals.”
Minister Coleby-Davis was made the Minister of Energy and Transport after Prime Minister Davis announced a cabinet shuffle in early September 2023.
