A perfect partnership behind the single largest fundraiser for the Bahamas Feeding Network (BFN) is now five years strong – with Fidelity Bank (Bahamas) Limited (Fidelity) continuing its partnership with BFN as title sponsor for the Tee-Off for Hunger golf tournament.

Fidelity’s principles in its civic contributions are based on enduring partnership and not singular monetary donations, and hence the continued partnership with BFN through the sponsorship of the Tee Off for Hunger golf tournament and participation of the Fidelity family with food distribution and other community initiatives. This year’s event will be held on December 13 at Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar, and organisers expressed appreciation to Fidelity for again stepping up to support those in need.
“We are extremely appreciative of Fidelity for partnering with the Bahamas Feeding Network for five consecutive years as the title sponsor for Tee-off for Hunger, the most important single fund-raiser in our calendar year,” said BFN Chairman Felix Stubbs. “From the start, Fidelity understood both the need to feed the hungry and the urgency to fund the feeding programmes we support. We cannot thank them enough. They have been the kind of partner every non-profit hopes to find.”
Last year’s golf tournament raised more than $65,000 from the course alone with additional funds coming from a raffle that included prizes like a Royal Caribbean cruise to Alaska and two nights stay at Four Seasons Ocean Club and Baha Mar. The tournament has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars since it was first proposed and hosted by BFN director Mario Carey, whose Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate MCR Bahamas supported it for the first four years.
“We launched the Fidelity Tee-off for Hunger to bring people together to raise awareness of the need, as well as to raise funds and support for those without enough food, a reality that up to one in five or six Bahamians or residents find themselves in, according to government statistics,” said Carey.
Executive director Nicolette Fountain Archer called the tournament a cornerstone.
“It is our largest fundraiser, and it also brings together those who support BFN. Fidelity sees the importance of the work we do, and we are so proud to see them return as title sponsor. The event is always a great day, and we hope other sponsors will sign up to give a helping hand as we feed the nation’s hungry.”
Several other sponsors have agreed to re-up their commitments and a new diamond sponsorship level is being introduced. Players are encouraged to sign up early to secure a spot.
“Thanks to it being the final tournament of the year, the cause it supports and the great prizes our donors and supporters provide, Fidelity Tee-off for Hunger has become one of the most popular tournaments on the calendar and we would not be surprised if this year is a sell-out again,” said Mr Stubbs.
BFN has served more than five million meals since it was formed in 2013, sharing hot meals, groceries and food vouchers through a network of more than 100 churches, soup kitchens and feeding centres and keeping each partner accountable for distribution. BFN provides food for more than 60,000 meals every month to those in need.
