Members of the Free National Movement staged a protest on Bay Street across from the House Of Assembly on Wednesday demanding action on crime in the country. Several opposition Members of Parliament were also there led by Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard.
Former Member of Parliament for Tall Pines, Don Saunders spoke to ZNS News saying, “we expect for them to care about the young men and women, cause I said women cause we see an increase of women and children being affected by gunshots and violence in this country.”
Brian Brown, a former candidate for office, was also at the protest. He told reporters, “I’ve lived here all of my life, I have nowhere else to go and I’m saddened today how the government is not taking this serious, the crime that is happening in this country.”
For his part, Michael Pintard promised to keep the pressure on the government. ”What we’re not seeing is immediate steps that need to be taken. We have a chance to stop this do not despair and we will keep the pressure on the government and we’ll do our part.”
