Former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Killarney, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis was asked for his views on the Prime Minister’s national address on immigration outside of the House of Assembly by members of the media.
He said, “the injunction has been lifted, we wanted to hear timelines. You can now go in, you can proceed as or continue as we had done. In the case of Abaco there was one entrance in the shanty town, we were manning those with Police and Defense Force. We were putting within the shanty town itself mobile police stations so as to deal with that. Individuals entering the shanty town, you obviously would have had access to them so you knew who were legal and who were not legal. Those that were illegal you could have dealt with. Those that were legal or here for a long time and is allowed under the law to be regularized should be regularized.”
