Gas prices have risen to the highest level in almost one year at approximately $6.00 per gallon.
Vice President of the Petroleum Retailers Association Vasco Bastian weighed in giving the reason for the increase. He said, “last couple weeks, you know, the price of crude oil started to increase and then also the logistics surrounding the transshipment of that has increased as well so that is leading directly to the increase in prices at the pump.”
The Petroleum Retailers Association have been lobbying the government for some time for an profit margin increase which has yet to be granted. Bastian assured the public that gas retailers are not in the business of shutting down gas stations in the country.
As to further gas price increases Bastian said, “we might get another increase, probably five or ten cents, but I don’t see it going back to the way it was last summer.”
