The government is looking at introducing a health passport for travelers during the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
The document tracks the covid status of the holder while offering digital proof of a recent negative covid-19 test. The United Kingdom began trials on its digital health passports last October.
Minister of Health, the Hon. Renward Wells says the matter is being reviewed.
“Both myself and the minister of tourism are looking at the health passport where you can say you were vaccinated, and the information is put up on a digital platform.
“The Bahamas has already been transformative, evolutionary, revolutionary in our approach to covid.
“We were the first to introduce a health visa, for folks to travel in and out of the country – a digital one, now a lot of other countries are moving in that direction.
“But we are also looking at elevating that platform to the possibility of doing the health visa passport for covid-19” the health minister said.
