Government officials responded to boaters who protested the lack of access to a boat ramp in the Bahama Terrace area. Minister for Grand Bahama and Member of Parliament for Pineridge, the Hon. Ginger Moxey along with the Minister of National Security and Member of Parliament for Freetown, the Hon. Wayne Munroe both addressed the issue in the House Of Assembly this week.
Munroe opined, “if I were still a lawyer and somebody were to tell me that they had unfettered, unhindered access to a boat ramp for in excess of thirty years I might assert that they have a prescriptive right away and can get an injunction to prevent any blocking of their way, if I were a lawyer.”
Moxey told Parliament that the Grand Bahama Port Authority is looking at other land that can be used and that discussions are ongoing with the fishermen.
