Security Officers in the public school system staged a sit out in protest of the lack of payment for overtime this week.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, Lorraine Armbrister-Symonette addressed the issue with reporters on the sidelines of a press conference hosted by the Ministry on Thursday. She said, “we met with the Bahamas Public Services Union to advise that there was an issue with funding in respect to the payment of overtime and he is aware of what is taking place and he is in agreement with the way forward for us. What we did is we met with the Ministry of Finance, with the Financial Secretary and we anticipate that all outstanding overtime will be paid in January, next month.”
