A rededication ceremony was held at the newly renovated Grand Bahama airport. The airport sustained extensive damage during the passage of Hurricane Dorian in September 2019.

The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper who delivered remarks. “…there have been ups and some downs but we have remained as steadfast and unflagging as the people of Grand Bahama who epitomizes resilience. Grand Bahama herself has a great product but the entryways and accommodations need to be in place to truly make Grand Bahama shine as one of our finest destinations. In addition to upgrading this terminal it pleases me to tell you that since the formation of the Freeport Airport Development Company we have made significant progress on the redevelopment of the international airport.”

The airport renovations were carried out by United Orca Construction Company at an estimated cost of $1.2 million.
