Leader of the Opposition and Member of Parliament for Marco City, the Hon. Michael Pintard made his contribution to the 2025-2026 budget debate on Wednesday.
Pintard expressed skepticism about the government’s balanced budget with a projected surplus. He said, “the haven’t released a serious plan. The numbers on the spread sheets don’t pay the bill, they do not treat patients, they do not fix schools and they certainly do not put food on Bahamian tables. While they fixate on a future surplus to get favorable headline, they’re big on headlines, they clearly forgot the frustrations of everyday Bahamians.”
The opposition leader said of the government, “they claim that we are living in an era of economic expansion, but expansion for whom. They have catered, in many cases, to the few. We are interested in catering to the majority of Bahamians.”
The budget debate ended on Thursday, June 19th.
