The House of Assembly met for the first time this year where two proposed pieces of legislation were laid on the table.
Also at the sitting, the Member of Parliament for Marco City, the Hon. Michael Pintard raised concerns about the question and answer period afforded members of the opposition. “We’ve had a conversation Madam Speaker about the fact that the second Wednesday, which is question and answer period for the opposition, that we’re consistently missing it and I got the distinct impression that is our sidebar there is a general agreement that on one of the other Wednesdays that we would be able to have the question and answer period. Is it permissible that we can then do that in the course of the parliament meeting next Wednesday that we address the question and answer period.”
Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe addressed Pintard’s concern saying, “Madam Speaker we intend to stick to the rules of the House all outstanding questions we do intend to answer. I cannot commit to outside of the regular scheduled time but be assured that we will answer your questions.”
The House was adjourned to Wednesday January 18th.
