Police are expected to crackdown on left turns on the red lights. Officer In Charge of the Traffic Division, Chief Superintendent David Lockhart spoke to reporters on the issue while on the scene of the latest New Providence traffic fatality.
He said, “the law is designed in a way that you’re only allowed to turn left where there are signs posted. I know that there is only one sign posted which is on University Blvd. and University Commons. That situation is being addressed from the Ministry of Works and shortly you are going to see signs posted telling you areas where you should not turn left. So those are more of concern to us cause we do know that some traffic crashes has occur for persons turning left when their light is red. They’re not giving way when to the persons who have the green light.”
