The National Deputy Chair of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Robyn Lynes announced her candidacy for the position of National Chairman at a press conference held on Sunday.

Lynes told reporters, “it truly has been an honour for me to serve the Party in its leadership over the last fourteen years. And that’s been in several capacities but most importantly I’ve served the Party as a National Vice Chair from 2009 to 2017. When we had our convention, I ran for the post I now hold as Deputy Chair and I was successful. So I’ve held that post from 2017 to now. I’ve been an integral part of the PLP’s legal team since 2010 contributing my legal expertise to advance the Party’s legislative agenda and uphold the principles of justice and equality.”

Lynes expressed what she would do if elected. “More than ever, now is the time for us to reset to our core values and reinvigorate our traditional base of supporters. They need to hear the PLP they know. Too many of our members are not satisfied with the direction and the sound, and that is not a critique that is meant to divide or destroy. The reason we have our convention is we put ourself on appraisal. We created a process that says search within.”

The PLP convention will be held on November 9th-10th at the Baha Mar.
