Man retried for attempted murder of police officer

A man acquitted of an attempted murder, will have to face a jury of his peers once again, after the Court of Appeal ordered that he be retried in the matter.

In 2016, the accused Shannon Wilson, aka Ramon Wilson, was on trial for the attempted murder of a police officer. However, at the ‘no case submission stage’ the judge directed the jury to discharge him and return a ‘not guilty’ verdict.

That did not sit well with the crown which appealed.

They also urged the appellate court to overturn the verdict and have the matter sent back to supreme court for retrial.

After hearing from both sides, the court of appeal ruled that Wilson be retried for attempted murder at the earliest opportunity.
