Minister of National Security and Member of Parliament for Freetown, the Hon. Wayne Munroe gave a update on the contract for the electronic monitoring system while contributing to debate on the 2023-2024 mid year budget in the House Of Assembly on Monday.
Responding to comments made by former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis Munroe revealed contract holder Metro Security Solution has been given notice of termination. “To be quite clear about it, Metro was not engaged by this administration, I.C.S was not the contractor that they replaced and we do not intend to get into open discussions about the matter other than what we have just communicated. Anyone with of view of what is in the national interest would understand why you would not be talking about matters like that openly,” Munroe said.
At a press conference in January, Commissioner of Police, Clayton Fernander revealed that a murder suspect was able to remove his ankle monitor and demonstrated to officers how he did it.
