Minister of State for the Public Service and Member of Parliament for Golden Gates, the Hon. Pia Glover-Rolle made her contribution to the minimum wage bill that is being debated in the House of Assembly this week.

She said, “we’re under no illusion that this increase will magically erase the hardship felt by Bahamian families. We do believe though that every dollar counts. There are families relying on a single income, especially among families led by single mothers, an extra $2600 a year matters to those families. We’re talking about an increase from approximately $10,000 to over $12,000 a year, a roughly 20% increase in earnings and these families will feel and appreciate the difference.”
