A total of 135 graduates crossed the stage at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute’s (BTVI) 2026 commencement ceremony held at Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, June 9.
The ceremony, held under the theme, “From Knowledge to Nation Building,” included several distinguished guests, including Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey.
Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey brought remarks, congratulating the graduates and urging them not to wait for opportunities to create them, but to step into the market with audacity.
“Class of 2026, the blueprint of this island is now in your hands. Do not just inhabit the future, offer it. Take your knowledge, claim your power, and shape our destination. Go out there, be bold, be relentless, and ignite your potential,” Moxey said.
Minister Moxey described the graduates as technicians, innovators and builders who will anchor the nation’s economy.
“If the industry you want does not exist, build it. If the technology we need is not here, programme it. If the infrastructure is missing, design it. If the system is broken, re-engineer it from the ground up,” she said.
BTVI President Keyshan Bastian, also brought remarks describing the ceremony as a celebration of sacrifice and possibilities, noting that each graduate had earned the moment through their belief that education transforms lives and that education is power.
She reminded the graduates to serve with excellence, never stop learning, never stop growing, and never underestimate the impact their skills can have on the lives of others.
“For it is only when knowledge is used in service to others that it truly becomes nation building,” Bastian said.
