The Minister for Grand Bahama made the rounds to various Grand Bahama schools on the first day of the new school year on Monday.

The Hon. Ginger Moxey said, “education is the key to success. And so we want to ensure that our students are equipped with the tools the need to succeed. That the classrooms, the teachers are equipped and that all of the work it takes to get us there is done. And I think we’re well on the way. I know the education minister, she would have heavily focused on readying the schools, readying the classroom and I’m excited.”

Education District Superintendent for Grand Bahama Ivan Butler was on hand with Minister Moxey. He informed reporters that all schools in the district opened successfully. “All of our schools are ready. All of our schools welcomed their children and we will be operating all day. So we’re ready to begin the process of instruction in our schools. And so we’re just happy, we have no major hiccups that would impede our students learning at this time,” he said.

Butler also noted that there is pretty much a full complement of teachers within his district.
