The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a memorial service on August 12, 2026 to honour the life and legacy of retired Assistant Chief Passport Officer Ivan Deveaux and his dedicated service to the Passport Office in Grand Bahama. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Hon. Fred Mitchell, Inspector General Clarence Russell and senior Ministry officials joined family and colleagues in the conference room of the Passport Office to remember Mr. Deveaux, who recently passed away.
During the ceremony, colleagues paid tribute to Deveaux, who was described as a wonderful public servant who gave good service to his country.
Minister Mitchell, while noting that it was a small token of the government’s esteem for Mr. Deveaux, performed the honour of naming the room the Ivan P. J. Deveaux Conference Room and presented his widow, Florence, with a plaque to commemorate the occasion.
