Former Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Killarney, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis announced his intention to run for re-election in the House Of Assembly on Wednesday.
During a press event in In April, Leader of the Free National Movement, the Hon. Michael Pintard announced during a press event that Dr. Minnis would not be granted a nomination by the Party to run in the next general election. He said, “I have met with our former leader and I’ve indicated to him that we can benefit from and I’ve asked him for his support, his support in a different capacity then he has served remarkably in Killarney for a number of years. I’ve indicated to him that we can benefit from his guidance as we strategize to retake and transform this country. I’ve asked him to provide additional information that sometimes only Prime Ministers know that would allow us to defend our record as a Party.”
Dr. Minnis has sinse remained mostly silent on the issue not giving a definitive answer on his plans for 2026 until yesterday while contributing to the 2025/2026 budget debate. He said, “Killarney must remain strong. I want to remind them that I am running in Killarney and I look forth to their vote and I look forth to their continued support.”
The former Prime Minister emphasized that Killarney to constituents that Killarney must remain strong.
Dr. Minnis was first elected to represent Killarney is 2007.
