As the MSC Foundation continues to strengthen the team at the Marine Conservation Center (MCC) at Ocean Cay, the Foundation is pleased to welcome Henry Garber and Gabrielle “Gabbi” Henderson to its growing marine conservation team. Their combined expertise in marine science, conservation, and public engagement further enhances the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to protect and restore coral reef ecosystems in The Bahamas through conservation, research, and education initiatives.
Henry Garber joins the MSC Foundation as Marine Operations Officer, supporting the daily operations of the Marine Conservation Center. In his role, he assists with coral and marine conservation activities, educational programmes, and the coordination of visiting interns and students participating in marine science and environmental learning experiences.
Garber brings several years of experience in marine conservation, including work on one of the largest coral restoration projects in the Maldives and experience as a resort marine biologist. Having previously worked as a dive professional in The Bahamas, he also brings a strong understanding of the importance of healthy marine ecosystems to both the environment and local communities.
“I am passionate about ensuring the future of coral reef ecosystems,” said Garber. “It’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive impact restoration efforts can have and to share those experiences with students and visitors.”
Joining the team as Guest Engagement Officer, Gabrielle “Gabbi” Henderson plays a key role in helping visitors better understand coral reef restoration and the importance of marine conservation. Through presentations, tours, and guest interactions, she helps create meaningful educational experiences that encourage greater awareness and appreciation for ocean stewardship.
Henderson brings a strong background in marine biology, along with hands-on experience as an aquarist and marine tour guide. Her experience has given her both a deep understanding of reef ecosystems and a passion for connecting people to the marine environment.
“I’m driven by a deep respect for the ocean,” said Henderson. “Being part of coral restoration efforts allows me to contribute to protecting biodiversity while also inspiring others to care for our marine environment and future generations.”
Together, Garber and Henderson add valuable expertise to the MSC Foundation’s growing conservation efforts at Ocean Cay. Their combined focus on marine restoration, education, and public engagement supports the Foundation’s mission to advance scientific research, restore marine habitats, and inspire greater environmental awareness throughout The Bahamas and beyond.
