A man succumbed to his injuries after being chopped by an axe. The alleged perpetrator was also killed, in the act, by Police. Police Press Liaison, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings was on the scene and briefed members of the media stating, “it was shortly before 7 o’clock when Police were alerted that two males were involved in an altercation at Kenilworth Street off Mt. Royal Avenue, and that one of the males were chopped to the upper body.”

Skippings also explained what occurred when officers came upon the scene. She said, “on arrival observed the victim lying in the street with a male, who was armed with an axe, standing over him attempting to chop him a second time. Hence, he was fatally shot.”

A resident of the area, who would like to remain anonymous, told ZNS news that it is quiet area and that she heard gunshots after the Police arrived on scene. She also offered her condolences to the families of the men involved in the incident.
