While fielding questions from members of the media at a recent key presentation ceremony in Sir Lynden Pindling Estates Minister of Housing and Urban Renewal, the Hon. Keith Bell outlined the government’s plans to development new housing projects across the country.
He said, “we have already gotten the approval of Cabinet to develop Adastra Gardens Subdivision. We’re about to clear the land very shortly and that’s a subdivision for 160 homes. We have done Renaissance and when its fully built out it will be 300 homes. We’re moving on to Pinecrest 2 and even though we are doing 40 homes in there, we have another 30 acres that we can develop and that’s just here in New Providence.”
The Minister also outline plans to build houses on the family islands. “You’re going to travel with us to see Ocean Hole Estates where those persons in affordable homes can actually have panoramic views of the ocean. You’re gonna go down to San Salvador and see the rent to own program that we…the roofs are on and in the next three, four months those homes are going to be completed down there. And we’re going to take you to Mangrove Bush down in Andros too. We’re going to take you across this archipelago and demonstrate to you…and Grand Bahama, we’re gonna take you in the ghetto, Garden Villas where no government before this Davis Administration has been able to do nothing with this area called the ghetto. We’ve already acquired a number of properties. We’re about to demolish a number of buildings and we’re ready to start building.”
