Newly Elected Bahamas Contractors Association (BCA) Executive Board

1022

On April 14, 2022, the BCA held its Annual General Meeting at the Poop Deck Restaurant, West Bay Street, New Providence. Given that we are still in a COVID 19 environment, albeit declining numbers, we saw a historic hybrid election model with some members participating in person and others by electronic submissions of nominations.

At the meeting there was an election of new officers for the 2022 – 2024. Elected to office was Leonard Sands, President, Tameka Hanna, Vice President, Hubert Edwards, Treasurer, Tyrone Thurston, Secretary, Dr. Allen Albury, Councilman, Cristobal Gomez, Councilman, Sandlee Brutus, Councilman, Deborah Deal, Trustee, and Robyn Oglive, Trustee.

The Bahamian Contractors’ Association (BCA) is the voice of the construction industry in the Bahamas. It was established in 1958 by a group of Bahamian contractors who realized that the collaboration and organization of contractors as well as the adoption of regulation and good practice were necessary to protect and promote the advancement of the local construction industry.

It is the statutory Non-Profit organization for qualified construction contractors and industry related allied companies. Considered an advocacy group, the BCA has been effective in representing the interests of Bahamian contractors in matters regarding international affiliations, trade agreements, foreign competition and the framing of national industry policies and legislation. The BCA also represents the local construction industry at Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) negotiations with the European Union (EU) and at the Coalition of Caribbean Contractors and CARICOM levels.

Ultimately, the BCA seeks to represent and protect the interests of local contractors through a wide range of services and by extension protecting the interest of the public. Notably, we welcome the new board, and we wish to thank Mr. Michael Pratt, outgoing president, and
his board for their service to the BCA and the industry.
