Former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried is currently at the Bahamas Department of Corrections after being denied bail by Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt. The Acting Commissioner of the Department of Corrections, Doan Cleare, assures that Bankman-Fried will receive no special treatment.
“He’s not getting any special treatment. In fact where he is at now they have six other inmates in there with him also so there’s no special treatment.”
Bankman-Fried has been in the sick bay of the prison since he arrived there on Wednesday evening following his arraignment.
Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe explained the assessment exercise at the prison. “If you are assessed to be very high dangerous criminal, somebody coming to get you, you’re likely to get at you may go in maximum security. You may go in central intake remand center or if you have precarious health issues, you may stay in the medical department but that a matter for assessment by the classification board and the medical doctor.”
