The Canadian government has not yet given an update on if that ban on air service to the Caribbean and Mexico from Canada will be lifted later this month.

It was at the end of the January when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Troudeau announced that air Canada, WestJet, Sunwing and air Transat had agreed to suspend their flights to popular sun destinations until April 30th due to covid-19.

Tourism and Aviation Minister, the Hon. Dionisio D’Aguilar also admitted to our news team that tourism officials were initially slighted by this decision, however, his team is ready to welcome Canadians here when the restriction is removed. As he is assured many of them are yearning for our beautiful sun, sand and sea.

“If the Canadian government will have us or will allow Air Canada and West Jet to fly to the Bahamas, we feel that it will be very robust just because you know you are letting the dog out of the house and everybody wants to just go and enjoy some sunshine so we feel that there will be a very robust bounce back once that restriction is removed” the Tourism Minister said.
