Officials of the Bahamas Nurses Union are refuting reported claims that President Muriel Lightbourne had been ousted from the union.
Lightbourne told ZNS News there is absolutely no truth to the report. Among the accusations levied against her was the nonpayment of dues for two years. Union Treasurer, Sherran Rolle verified that Lightbourne is a financial member of the union. She said, “she was financial up until April of this year, 2025. As of April she forwarded me another set of money, which is $100, that makes her financial May, June, July. So she is financial, those report were given in our monthly meeting.”
The claims were allegedly made by Secretary General, Shevone Brennen who is also said to have instructed that the locks to the headquarters be changed. Lightbourne said member now want Brennen removed as an official. “But because that was on Facebook on a Zoom meeting I said to the members, it was like one hundred and something persons on that Zoom meet. I said because this is on Zoom to be fair to the Secretary General I cannot except that motion because I don’t know who is behind the motion to have her removed.”
Contrary to reports the keys to the union headquarters are still in the hands of Lightbourne.
