The Office of the Governor General stated in a press conference today, October 23, that the upcoming official visit of His Majesty King Charles III, October 27-29, 2026 as King of The Bahamas, forms part of a wider Autumn Tour and precedes the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.
This will be His Majesty’s first official visit to The Bahamas as King. His previous visit to the country was in 1973 when, as Prince of Wales, he represented Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the celebrations marking The Bahamas’ Independence.
The three-day visit will highlight the people, culture, and priorities of The Bahamas, with particular emphasis on youth development, national resilience, environmental and marine conservation, and the preservation of Bahamian cultural heritage. Programme Highlights are:
Youth Development and Leadership
On Tuesday, October 27, His Majesty’s programme will include a Youth Rally at Clifford Park bringing together Bahamian students to showcase their talents, achievements and leadership potential. The event will celebrate the contributions of young people to national development and highlight their role in shaping the country’s future.
National Security and Maritime Resilience
On Wednesday, October 28, His Majesty will engage with the royal Bahamas Defence Force, including an engagement involving a disaster-response vessel. The programme will highlight the Force’s responsibilities in maritime security, disaster preparedness and response, and the protection of The Bahamas’ territorial waters and marine resources.

His Majesty will also attend an engagement in Parliament Square and Rawson Square that will feature Junkanoo, celebrating the vitality of Bahamian cultural traditions and the importance of preserving the country’s cultural heritage.
He will hold audiences with the Governor General, the Prime Minister and former Governors General.
He will also attend a Garden Reception at Government House hosted by Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia Pratt. His Majesty will arrive in The Bahamas on Tuesday, October 27, at LPIA where a ceremonial welcome will be held.
He will depart on Thursday, October 29, concluding his three-day visit.
