Beach goers on the southeastern side of the island of Grand Bahama complained of oil particles on the water while they were swimming on Wednesday.

One beach goer recounted her experience saying, “the oil in the water was coming up and like all over the body and its like sticky. I got it on my hair too.” When asked if she would go to another beach she said she wouldn’t.

Chief Executive Officer of Blue Dinghy Beach Club Louis Missick spoke about the impact on his business. “This experience now, with the guests, is going to impact our business negatively. There’s got to be some sort of a liability of cost attached to something like this because its gonna cost us business. It’s gonna cost us a negative experience.”

Missick wants the beach cleaned by those responsible or he will take legal action.
