Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis was honoured over the weekend with the Global Impact Leader of the Year Award by Onyx Magazine in Orlando, Florida.

President and Editor In Chief Richard Black said, “climate change, its those things that was happening post COVID in a nation where the resource really is tourism and he was able to bring back The Bahamas from the abyss. Also with vaccinations that he provided to the island.  We thought that he was just doing the work as a leader and because he was not just there in the country but he was making it a global connection.  I’ve never seen that before in a Prime Minister. I’m not saying that it never happened its just that I’d never seen it.  He’s a modern day Michell and Barack Obama, he and Ms. Ann Marie Davis.  We were very impressed with his work.”

In response to receiving the award Prime Minister Davis said that he was humbled. “It’s not an award that really just about me cause I think whatever I’ve achieved its through the inspiration of the Bahamian people, people who be around me, my wife, my family and those persons who’ve been supporting me, the people of Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador, all these years. I would not be here were it not for them.”

The Prime Minister was among several other men being honored by the magazine at the Onyx Magazine Men of Honor Awards.  The gala event was held on Saturday at the Rosen Center Hotel.
