Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Chairman of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), the Hon. Fred Mitchell spoke with ZNS News about the Party’s campaign in the West Grand Bahama and Bimini constituency.

Mitchell said that the feedback has been so encouraging that he is sure that the seat will remain with the PLP. “We feel that he is connected with the area by way of his family ties and that’s going to work to his advantage.  And also the feeling that, the government is in office now and if you want things done for the next three years it is a safer bet to go with Mr. Smith. I think the candidate’s launch for the FNM (Free National Movement) didn’t help them any by spreading the message that he doesn’t have the resources to assist the constituency as is expected of a representative.”

Mitchell also said that there is no magic to the FNM’s campaign strategy of reaching those in the constituency who did not vote in the 2021 general elections.  He said, “we are doing the same thing and we have a more convincing case.”

Nomination day for the West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election is set for Monday, November 6th.
