The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) held a press conference at its Farrington Road headquarters on Wednesday where party officials gave an update on their 55th national convention set for November 9th-11th. The theme for the event is ‘Building On Progress and Driving New Change’.
PLP Secretary General Barbara Cartwright said, “this convention will address real concerns and suggestions of our members. By addressing this issues we reiterate our commitment to being a party that listens and act upon the collective wisdom of the members.”
As to who will contest the various open positions within the party National Chairman, the Hon. Fred Mitchell said, “the Secretary General says we’ll know Thursday close of business who is running and not running.” He continued, “the Progressive Liberal Party is an open, transparent organization. Anyone, once the fulfill the requirements of the constitution to run and it’s not for me to speculate or to say who should or shouldn’t. Any member in good standing has that right and I’ll stand on that.”
The PLP is also celebrating its 70th anniversary at the convention which will be held at the Bahamar Resort.
