The Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) standard bearer for the upcoming West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election spoke with ZNS News about his campaign.

Attorney Kingsley Smith, who is seeking to replace the late Hon. Obie Wilchcombe in the House of Assembly, says that he is confident that he will be victorious. “I very confidant in victory.  My team is confident in victory.”

Smith also spoke of some of his plans for the constituency.  He said, “we’re already in talks with some locals in building marina.  Once the local build the marina where boaters can come you will see an economic shift.”

The PLP candidate addressed concerns that he is still aligned with the Free National Movement.  He said, “that is something that should not even be talked about.  And so what they should appreciate is that for those years I supported them, alright, be thankful for those years.  And now that I’ve left obviously they keep throwing the stone, right, because why they lost someone valuable.”

Smith says West Grand Bahama and Bimini was neglected under the former government. “What it is that you have to show? You did not open the government complex.  You did not complete the school.  The police station is condemned in West End and the list goes on and on.”

The West Grand Bahama and Bimini by-election is scheduled for November 22nd.
