Prime Minister and Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), the Hon. Philip Davis spoke at a meeting of PLP supporters on the island of Grand Bahama over the weekend where he addressed the ongoing dispute between the government and the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA).
Speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the meeting Davis said, “I came to Freeport this morning to attend the funeral of a Stalwart Councillor Nesbitt at Ascension Church. Since I was here PLPs decided that we should gather and have a family conversation on what’s happening in the Port and to get from the horse’s mouth what is exactly happening and what the position is that we’re taking.”
The Government recently sent a demand letter to the GBPA requesting payment of $300 million which it says is owed to it per a clause of the Hawksbill Creek Agreement.
