Commissioner of Police Shanta Knowles addressed the leaking of crucial police information while speaking with reporters on Monday.
Knowles said, “you would have also seen that my team, my officers, have been out on the streets. And from we came in to the administration we made sure that we scaled back on our administrative responsibilities as it relates to officers and put them on the streets. Last week we had a major operation. As you would have seen in social media our restricted document got into social media. We certainly do not approve of that and that is a matter we’re investigating because it could have hampered the work that the good, decent officers of our organization are doing.”
The Commissioner also said that crime numbers are still down despite the three murders that occurred over the weekend and that efforts to remove illegal weapons from the streets is a priority.
