The Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador hosted multiple back to school events in his constituency over the weekend.
The events were held on the islands of Cat Island and San Salvador. The Hon. Philip Davis was in attendance at both events. On Cat Island a student expressed the importance of the giveaways saying, “I feel like the giveaway is very important because certain students don’t have like school bags and stuff like that. So I feel like this help them and encourage them.”
Prime Minister Davis told ZNS News it is his government’s intention that no child is left behind. He also said, “each child truly counts. Counting by turning up to the classroom, being imparted with the education and knowledge that is gonna suit them for a better life as they move up the chain in classrooms and graduate from school.”
Davis also had a message for students as the 2023-2024 school year begins. “I urge you, please attend school, listen to your teachers, work hard, be committed, stay focused understanding that at the end of the day that there is a rich reward for them once they achieve the educational background and foundation that is necessary for succeeding in life.”
