A press conference was held at police headquarters to address a video circulating online depicting officers arguing at the Central Police Station early on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Leamond Deleveaux spoke to members of the media saying, “where we see unethical behaviour by police officers we will use whatever force is reasonably necessary to ensure that those officers are dealt with very quickly. We do not and we will not under any circumstances condone bad behaviour of our police officers.”
Deleveaux further stated, “I also wish to advise the press that 99% of the police officers are good descent hardworking officers who on a daily basis continue to go beyond the call of duty to assist and to make sure that the public is safe and residents visiting our country. We are every appreciative of their efforts and we say to continue.”
The officers in the video were placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
