The late Hon. Obie Wilchcombe died this past Monday on the island of Grand Bahama. Since then condolences have poured in from those who he knew and collaborated with.
Veteran broadcaster and talk show host Darold Miller is also paying tribute to the fallen Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting. He said, “as a reporter, fresh from school he scoured Grand Bahama from west to east realigning, not reinventing, doing it powerfully, yet succinctly for all of us to understand and to see. As a budding politician his mentor was Lynden Pindling, the greatest of them all. Under Christie, he convinced the world that it is indeed better in The Bahamas. Under Brave, his philanthropy re-anchored the PLP’s philosophy of social services.”
A state funeral is planned for the late Obie Wilchcombe on Friday October 13th in Grand Bahama.
