The Junkanoo Parades Management Team (JPMT) held a press event on New Year’s Day where the unofficial results of the 2024 New Year’s Junkanoo Parade were announced.
JPMT Chairman, Anthen Mortimer told reporters, “first of all I’ll like to announce that Music Makers was disqualified. In fifth position, they got a penalty point of twenty two points, with a score of 64.69, Genesis. In fourth position with a score of 88.37 Roots. In third position with a score of 89.86, One Family. In second position, they were penalized one point, with a score of 91.08, The Valley Boys. And the winner of the New Year’s Day 2024, they were also penalized one point, with a score of 91.90, Saxons.”
In Division B, the reigning champions, Colours were dethroned by the Fancy Dancers. Mortimer announced, “In fifth position, they were penalized one point. They got a score of 71.27, Conquerors For Christ. In fourth position with a score of 74.09, Body Of Christ. In third position with a score of 75.52, The Immortals. In second position with a score of 81.95, Colours and the overall winner for the B Division with a score of 82.66, Fancy Dancers.”
The Saxons Superstars were the overall winners for both the 2023 Boxing Day and 2024 New Year’s Day Junkanoo Parades.
