The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Thursday, 1st July 2021.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the islands of the Northwest and Central Bahamas and their adjacent waters.
At 12:2o p.m, observations, radar and satellite imagery show clusters and lines of thunderstorms associated with a mid level trough near the Northwest Bahamas along with streaming Tropical moisture across the area.
Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightening, heavy downpours, reduced visibility, hail and possible water spouts or tornadic activity.
Boaters in the warning area should seek safe Harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen.
Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightening conductors.
