Severe Weather Warning

The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 3:30 p.m edt until 5:30 p.m., Friday, 7th May 2021.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been discontinued for the Berry Island; it remains in effect for Abaco, Northern Andros, New Providence and Eleuthera along with their adjacent waters.

At 3: 25 p.m, lightening detector, radar and satellite imagery is showing a line of showers with embedded thunderstorms associated with frontal system. moving southeastwards towards and across the warning areas.

Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightening, heavy downpour, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity, Localized flooding is also possible during these storms.

Boaters in the warning areas should seek safe Harbour and residents in the warning areas should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightening conductors.
