The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m EDT, Monday 13th September 2021.

A severe Thunderstorm warning is now in effect for Bimini, Grand Bahama and the Berry Islands along with their adjacent waters.

At 12:55 p.m., observation, lightening detection, radar and satellite imagery depicted clusters of showers with embedded thunderstorms associated with troughing interacting with tropical moister, moving towards and across the warning areas.

Some of these thunderstorms may become strong to severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightening, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornadic activity. Localised flooding is also possible during these storms.

Boaters in the warning areas should seek safe Harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windoes when conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightening conductors.
