Government officials from the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry for Grand Bahama visiting North Carolina this week promoting the island of Grand Bahama as tourism destination.

While there, Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey and Mayor of Concord, William Dusch, signed a sister cities agreement between Grand Bahama and Concord, North Carolina which is hoped to foster opportunities for residents of both places through business, culture and education etc.

Minister Moxey expressed her excitement saying, “there is so many things that we see happening from it. We visited Charlotte Motor Speedway where its the home of Nascar. We know that wee had racecar driving on Grand Bahama back in the day and so we look to see some revived form of racecar driving on Grand Bahama island. There’s so many opportunities for exchanges with educational institutes like BTVI, technology transfer, best practices and so we’re looking to see how we partner on a number of areas to ensure that Grand Bahama island benefits and Concord as well.”

For his part, Mayor Dusch said, “we’re really looking forward to strengthening the relationship, doing some training up here, dong exchange programs, exchange of staff going back and forth. We would love to have them come up and visit us. Come up for the races, come up to see what we have going on here.”
