The lifeless body of a man was found in the backyard of a South Beach home on Sunday morning.
Inspector Gerard Culmer was on the scene where he provided details to reporters. He said, “shortly before 10 am police control was notified of a suspicious death at a residence on South Beach Drive. As a result officers along with EMS responded and as officers responded they observed a male in the northeast section of a residence where it appeared to be lifeless.”
According to the homeowner, Dwight Bain, he heard noises and dogs barking the night before, the barking stopped and Bain assumed the person left until later that morning when he discovered the man’s body near a shed in his backyard. “I heard the fence rattling and moving about, heard him banging against the shed and called the police. As the barking stopped or died down a bit I assumed that the person that was trying to gain entrance would have been scared off, not knowing that that person was actually caught in between the sheds,” Bain said.
In light of the incident Bain told ZNS News he still feels relatively safe in his neightbourhood. He recently installed security cameras and said that the neighbourhood is quiet.
Police investigations into this suspicious death continues.
