The Ministry of Tourism and Aviation expresses great disappointment over criticisms about the recent inaugural visit by Crystal Cruises to Exuma.
In a July 6th, 2021 communication by I Chester Cooper, member of parliament for Exuma, Mr. Cooper expressed “distaste” and “disrespect” for not receiving an invitation to the official welcome ceremony for the arrival of the inaugural cruise.
Mr. Cooper further stated that his supposed non-receipt of an invitation was politically driven.
However, upon review, the Ministry wishes to advise that as the representative for Exuma, Mr. Cooper was extended an invitation by our Exuma office on Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at 3:25 P.M. Email correspondence from Ms. Sharmain Deveaux, manager of domestic tourism, to mr. Cooper confirms the same.
The Minister of Tourism is disappointed at the insinuation by Mr. Cooper of political mischief in the handling of the ceremony.
“I would like take this opportunity to personally commend Ms. Deveauc and her entire tourism team, for the exceptional level of professionalism in providing a very warm welcome for the passengers of Crystal Cruises’ inaugural visit to the great island of Exuma,” said Minister of Tourism Dionisio D’Aguilar
