The Speech from the Throne was delivered by Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia Pratt at the Atlantis Resort on Wednesday.
Part of the speech focused on continuing the development on the island of Grand Bahama. The government’s plans include energy reform, improved access to healthcare and stronger investments.
It read, “through enhanced investments and economic development, reorganization of arrangements with the Grand Bahama Port Authority and strengthening of opportunities with key stakeholders.”
Grand Bahama is also expected to become a major trading hub with the construction of several large scale projects. The speech read, “tourism, and investment with the development of the Afro-Caribbean Marketplace and Logistics Centre, MSC Cruise Port, Xanadu Beach Project and other major developments.”
According to the speech the government also plans to upgrade healthcare services and infrastructure on the island.
