Tourism officials marked record breaking tourist arrivals on Monday. The Bahamas has welcomed more than 8 million visitors, the largest number on record.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper told a gathering of tourism stakeholders, “I point out that we have still not counted November and the full month of December. We’re not only back, we’re better than ever.”
Cooper added, “foreign air and sea arrivals in October increased by 45.7% compared to the same period in 2022 and surpassed 2019’s level by 32%.”
Nassau Cruise Port Chief Executive Officer, Mike Maura also boasted of the record numbers of arrivals at the port. Maura told reporters, “we expect to finish the year close to 4.4 million passengers. So we’re gonna knock 2019 right out of the park. Our volumes are forecast confirmed for 2024 put us well past 5.6 million passengers.”
