Minister of Social Services and Urban Development and Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe expressed optimism concerning a planned eco-resort development slated for his constituency.

He said, “we wanted to have a good anchor property in West Grand Bahama to join the Old Bahama Bay which is still a project that is far from completion.”

Wilchcombe went further stating, what we need in Grand Bahama is five to ten thousand rooms to create some sustainability and job opportunities. You must remember one room two employees. And so its going to be great for West Grand Bahama, its going to help West Grand Bahama but also it send a strong message to the rest of the world.”

The proposed Eden Resort would include villas and a farming element planned to grow fresh produce for their use and the domestic market. The project estimated to cost $300 million and would break ground later this year.
