President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Air, Rexy Rolle recently spoke with ZNS News about the success of the airline’s route from Freeport, Grand Bahama to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Rolle said, “we’ve have had awesome feedback from the route, I mean, Freeport to Fort Lauderdale has been experiencing very high occupancy levels since the beginning. And especially now with summer it’s certainly peak travel time.”
The Western Air CEO also spoke about the economic impact of the route. “I feel that Grand Bahama is making a major comeback. That’s what I feel, that’s what I sense, that’s the energy that’s around. I’m optimistic about it and I think its reflective in the numbers that we’re seeing.”
Rolle was asked about the challenges of the nearly year old route. She said, “some of the feedback has been, one, they would like to see more evening flights come onboard and that’s something we’re working on. We always like to make sure that we have the proper resources pertaining to crew before we add on anything.”
The airline has also acquired a new aircraft which Rolle says will help service the routes already provided by Western Air.
