The Abaco Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a townhall meeting at the Friendship Tabernacle Church of God. on the island of Abaco. It was the first townhall held since Chantelle Sands assumed office as Chamber President.
Sands spoke about collaboration with government agencies and being aligned with the vision of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce. She said, “it’s important to have that central point of say a hub so to speak so that the information can filter through and be disseminated throughout the community.”
Panelists at the meeting included Bahamas Trade Commission Chairman, Sen. Hon. Barry Griffin; Consumer Protection Commission Executive Chairman, Sen. Hon. Randy Rolle and Kanoo Pays Chief Sales Officer, Jevon Butler.
Chief Executive Officer of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers’ Confederation, Dr. Leo Rolle was also in attendance. He spoke with ZNS News on the sidelines about the importance of strengthening the ties between Chambers of Commerce across the country. “Starting with Abaco, starting with the new board, seeing the implementation of this partnership, seeing where it goes. We plan to mirror the same thing in different family islands. So Eleuthera, Grand Bahama and I think Exuma are the one that we’ve already slated.”
Kanoo’s Jevon Butler said, “this platform was built to empower the small and medium sized businesses. And as we always tell them when it comes to the Kanoo spec security, prosperity, empowerment, convenience vitally important to us.”
Senator Griffin shared on the new trade strategies of the government in its efforts to lower the cost of living.
